Stairchairs also known as stairlifts are a kind of elevator.
They are elevator lift chairs that operate off of batteries inside the chair itself. The batteries are constantly charged from a standard wall outlet. Plugged in and changing 24/7 for the day that the power finally does fail the chair will STILL WORK, running off of the batteries.
The chair rides on a rail that attaches to the stair steps via “feet” or stanchions. NOT THE WALL. They do not change the lay out of your house.
There are over 15 different brands/markers of Stair Chairs. Bruno, Hawle and Hammar are just a few..a few of the best stair chairs on the market.
There are not only different brands but, different MODELS as well. Indoor straight, outdoor straight, Indoor curve and Outdoor curve
Stairchairs are very SAFE! They are regulated and standardized with specific speeds and pressure sensors. Depending on the model a stairchair can carry a rider of 250 lbs and some up to 400lbs. One straight rail brand offers a weight capacity of up to 600lbs!! WOW!
Custom curve stairchairs price depends on the configuration of your staircase and the options you would like to have. They start at about $10,000.00 and can take any where from 4 to 8 weeks to get!
On average stairchairs are bought through dealers and serviced by the same dealer.
Many Stairchair manufacturing companies off installation/service certification to their stairchair dealers.
Stairchairs will need to be serviced about every 2 to 5 years and greased every 6 months to a year by you! IT’S EASY TO GREASE!

Love Lifts

February is the month of love. Love is not limited to that of lovers but, the concept of love reaches far beyond that. The love that families share is deep and unwavering in this turbulent fast paced world, however finding time for family can be difficult. Especially for grown children and their adult parents. Luckily with technology taking time to acknowledge and share feelings of love can be easy and quick through a phone call, skype or email.

That being said there is no substitute for an in person hug from dad or kiss from mom. To parents there is nothing more persicus than a visit from children no matter how old they get. We always want to focus on the happier aspect of love. But, love can also be difficult. Children for example, saying no, having to take them to the dentist or pushing them to learn something new that might be intimidating, like how to swim. A child can be fearful, apprehensive or worse stubborn.

As the adult it is your job to push and make tough decisions because it is what is best for your loved ones...How difficult can this make things when the shoe is on the other foot and this time the difficult decision that must be made for a parent? It can be hard to accept that mom or dad needs help. It can be even more difficult mom or dad wont accept themselves that they may need help especially with in their own home.

Look Stairchairs can only help provide the tools to get a family member safely up and down the stairs. A stair chair is the best way to prevent a fall down stairs and give someone back the freedom they once had in their own home. But, sadly we find that people don’t reach out to us sometimes until it’s too late and a getting up or down the stairs is now a desperate need. Buying a stairlift is a form of preventative care. As we all know doing what’s best for ourselves can be difficult and we can all use a push in the right direction from time to time.

Look Stairchairs opened on the foundation of family and love. We understand that the well being of loved ones is what matters most and helping families is our business. In this business we see love at it’s most raw point sometimes. Sometimes an adult child has to say to their reluctant parent “get this stairlift please, because I worry about you.”

Happy new year from Look Stairchairs

It’s a brand new year and commonly Americans make resolutions to be happier and healthier.

Just because we are another year older doesn't mean it’s more difficult to be happier or healthier. The journey to a better you isn’t about taking big drastic steps to change but rather, change is easier to accomplish over time with small gradual steps changing the home to better suit the aging homeowner is a common and important aspect of the aging-in-home process.

Look Stairchairs staff are C.A.P.S (Certified Aging in Place specialist). What an Aging in Place Specialist is trained to do is to help people know and understand the options they have and what changes they can make that will help them stay in their home. On top of being C.A.P.S certificatied, Marilyn Look has over 30 years in commercial and residential elevators. The elevator industry is where Marilyn first discovered stairlifts. Now Look Stairchairs is now 10 years old and the experience as well as understanding of the needs of the aging that we has gained over the years is priceless.

The choice between a stairlift and an in-home residential elevator is the difference between a small change and a drastic change in the home. Home elevators start at a minimum price of $50,000 and 6 months from start to finish. The physical changes to a home. A stairlift only needs to attach to the the staircase and does not change the structure of the home.

The holidays are a time to spend with loved ones. Here at Look Stairchairs we understand the importance of family because the staff is family. Look Stairchairs has always been family owned and operated. Commonly adult children aren’t able to visit their parents as much as they’d like to over the course of a year. The Holidays are often the only chance to find the time from busy schedules to visit. A lot can change over the course of a year. Mom or Dad may not be as mobile as they were the year before and even then they may have seemed limited in their mobility the year before. Here at Look Stairchairs we encourage families to take care of each other. Making the decision to buy a stairchair can be a difficult process for loved ones but the love and support of family makes the process that much less arduous to get through. Look Stairchairs’ gentle, experienced staff is sensitive to the needs our customers and happy to help bring families together by getting them up and down the stairs.
